Georgia Asian Pacific Islander Community Coalition
Mission: To promote unity and improve the well being of all Asian and Pacific Islanders in Georgia through advocacy, education and community programs.

Vision: Together in America: A Partnership of Hope and Prosperity

History: In 2005, a group of 25 community leaders gathered to share their thoughts on the issues, challenges, strengths and assets of Georgia's Asian Pacific Islander community. They decided to form a coalition to bring the diverse Atlanta Asian community together to find ways to improve the overall well being of ALL Asian and Pacific Islanders in GA.

In 2007, the coalition, in partnership with the Center for Pan Asian Community Services, Inc, was one of eight organizations in the country to receive a Health Through Action grant from the Asian Pacific Islander American Health Forum.

The coalition's focus for the next four years will be on capacity building to eradicate cancer disparities in the Asian Pacific Islander American community. Cancer is the leading cause of death for Asian Pacific Islander Americans, whereas it is the second cause of death for all other groups. Last year, GAAPICC hosted the first Asian American Cancer Summit on Asian American Cancer Awareness Day.
